Hey Rare Ones! Welcome back to the Be Rare Podcast, your powerful space to embrace being HUMAN, to courageously GROW into the woman you DESIRE, and to transform your PAIN into undeniable POWER. This is your space, this is your constant reminder: BE RARE.
In our previous episodes, we’ve laid foundational truths about self-awareness, knowing your "why," the courage to seek help, growing with God through grief, and rebuilding after breakdown. Now, in Episode 7, I'm inviting you into a truly raw, reflective, and ultimately transformative space: how to stop letting your past define you.
This episode comes straight from my heart. I get completely vulnerable about how past mistakes, repeated bad decisions, and the heavy weight of shame don't have to dictate your future. For years, my choices, especially around love and relationships, were rooted in pain. They shaped my journey in ways that felt devastating at the time, but I’ve come to see them as the very soil from which my growth has blossomed.
I’m teaching you how to take accountability for your actions without falling into the trap of self-condemnation. I share how I learned to give myself grace in the face of my own imperfections, and how I began the challenging but liberating process of trusting myself again – even when my track record felt incredibly messy. If you've ever felt stuck in cycles of regret, constantly replaying past moments, or unsure how to forgive yourself, this episode is designed to feel like a deep breath of fresh air and a much-needed spiritual reset.
Here’s what you’ll hear in this episode:
How my own decisions around love and relationships profoundly shaped my growth and identity.
The heavy emotional toll of self-blame, and what it truly means to forgive yourself for past choices.
The critical importance of changing your internal dialogue and talking to yourself with grace instead of harsh shame.
A powerful mindset shift: learning to view your "mistakes" not as failures, but as invaluable lessons that have led to your becoming the woman you are today.
How to honestly recognize when a single "mistake" has morphed into a deeply ingrained, repeated choice.
A practical reflection exercise that I’ll guide you through, designed to help you finally release the past and move forward.
These are some key takeaways I hope you carry with you:
You are human – extend boundless grace to yourself, not shame, for your past actions.
Learn to separate yourself from your actions: you can be a mistake-maker without being a mistake.
Don’t allow repeated choices or patterns from your past to rob you of the redeemed, purposeful future you deserve.
True healing is a journey that begins with radical honesty, deep compassion for yourself, and a conscious mindset shift.
This is my reminder for you, Rare One:
“Your past decisions are not your identity. You’re not your mistakes—you’re the person who survived them, learned from them, and is now growing because of them.”
Your Challenge of the Week:
This week, I want you to take a brave step towards freedom: Write a letter to yourself. Acknowledge one big past decision that has been weighing heavily on your heart or mind. In that letter, offer yourself forgiveness, compassion, and abundant grace for that decision. End the letter with a firm commitment to how you will love and support yourself moving forward, choosing a different path.
Bonus Challenge: Write down three specific ways your past, even the messy parts, has actually helped you grow into who you are today.
