Hey Rare Ones! Welcome back to the Be Rare Podcast, the space designed for us to unapologetically embrace being HUMAN, commit to GROWING into the women we are meant to DESIRE, and powerfully turn our PAIN into undeniable POWER. This is your space, this is your reminder: BE RARE.
In our previous episodes, we’ve talked about seeing ourselves, knowing our purpose, seeking support, navigating faith through difficulty, and rebuilding after breakdown. Now, in Episode 6, we arrive at a destination that is both the journey and the goal: building a deep, authentic relationship with YOURSELF.
In this heartfelt and empowering episode, I get vulnerable and real about my own journey of self-discovery. I truly believe that healing is not for the faint of heart; it requires courage and a willingness to get to know the person beneath all the titles, roles, and, most importantly, outside of other people's opinions and narratives about you. I share some deeply personal wins in this episode, including the monumental step of dropping my first-ever prayer album – a massive victory over perfectionism and a testament to finally believing in myself and leaning fully on my relationship with God.
Through sharing my story of healing from a past emotionally and mentally abusive relationship, I emphasize how crucial it is to actively reclaim your identity, to question the false narratives that have been imposed upon you, and to make a conscious choice every single day to celebrate your progress, no matter how small it seems. Whether your victory is choosing not to react in an old pattern, allowing yourself extra rest when you need it, or simply showing up for yourself in a small, consistent way – every single step counts.
Getting to know yourself, understanding your triggers, your needs, your dreams, and your boundaries, is not selfish; it is an essential act of self-preservation and the foundation for genuine peace.
Here’s what you’ll hear in this episode:
Why cultivating a deep relationship with yourself is the ultimate protection for your peace.
The often-unseen impact of internalized beliefs and false narratives that can come from past trauma or difficult relationships.
The story behind how I navigated through doubts and fears to finally release my first prayer album, and what that victory meant for my self-belief.
Powerful encouragement to acknowledge and celebrate all your wins – the seemingly small ones and the big, loud ones.
How true emotional healing really begins with self-awareness and extending radical grace to yourself.
This is my core message to you in this episode:
“You don’t deserve chaos. You don’t deserve to carry someone else’s opinion of you. You deserve peace, and it starts with knowing who you are.”
These are some key takeaways to carry with you:
Embrace imperfection as part of your journey and make a point to celebrate your growth, messy parts and all.
Your healing journey is completely valid, no matter where you are starting from or what it looks like. There is no right or wrong way to heal; there is only your way.
Give yourself permission to let go of who others told you to be or who you thought you had to be – and just be you. Just be rare.
And here is your challenge for the week, Rare One:
This week, commit to spending just 10 minutes each day asking yourself this powerful question: “Who am I outside of what I do for others?” Grab a journal or your phone and write down your honest answers. Don't filter yourself, don't judge, and don't feel pressure to have it all figured out. Just be with yourself and explore who you are outside of your roles, responsibilities, and other people's expectations. Then, at the end of each day, take a moment to celebrate one small win you had. Did you drink enough water? Did you say no to something you didn't want to do? Did you get five extra minutes of rest? Celebrate it!
